Rules of Conduct

Philosophy

Parochial Commuter Service of Baton Rouge, L.L.C., provides a needed service for Catholic school students in the Diocese of Baton Rouge. Our riders and their parents are our customers. Our primary goal is to transport students in the safest manner possible to their respective schools. The following rules are designed to insure the safety of all students. (In general, any behavior prohibited by your child's school is also prohibited on the bus.)

Boarding the Bus
1. Wait for the bus to come to a complete stop before approaching the bus.
2. Wait patiently for others in front of you to board the bus (no pushing or shoving).
3. Expect the bus driver to greet you politely. You will be expected to answer any questions from the bus driver with the same courtesy. The bus driver and other riders will be treated with respect at all times.
4. You will be allowed to choose where you sit unless behavior problems occur; however, common sense dictates that the bus should be filled from back to front whenever possible, and younger students will be placed in the very front seats behind the driver.
5. The bus driver will make the final determination regarding problems with seating.
6. Objects too large to be held on the student's lap or placed under the seat are not allowed.
7. No weapons of any kind are allowed on the Parochial Commuter Service bus.
8. NO EATING ON THE BUS
9. Treat other students and the driver on the bus with respect - no name-calling, hitting, fighting, or using profanity.
10. Absolutely no smoking is allowed on the bus.
11. Vandalism of the bus property both inside and outside is not tolerated and parents will be held responsible for complete replacement.
12. Discipline problems will be reported to the bus service owners as well as to the principal and disciplinarian of the school, which the student attends. The bus driver may also assign problem students to seats in the front of the bus at his or her discretion. Students may be suspended or expelled from the bus for repeated offenses. Fees already paid to Berente Companies will not be refunded for students who are expelled from the bus.

Exiting the Bus
1. Remain seated until the bus has come to a complete stop and the driver has opened the door.
2. Allow students in the front of the bus to exit first.
3. Walk quietly toward the front of the bus and exit carefully.
4. If you must cross in front of the bus after exiting, walk all the way past the extended front arm and keep a safe distance in front of the bus.

NOTE FOR PARENTS: For billing purposes, if at any point in the year you decide to discontinue using our service, we must receive notification, in writing, one month prior to the discontinuation of service. There are no discounts or refunds for missed days or half days due to after school activities. Please be aware that these seats are still reserved for your children, present or not.
